Victoria Albright
Victoria A. Albright is a senior research specialist with more than 30 years of experience managing and conducting major social science research and data collection projects. Ms Albright began her career preparing survey-based statistical evidence for expert witness testimony in employment discrimination litigation and went on to serve as a Survey Researcher Specialist for 15 years at Westat and 15 more at RTI International. Ms. Albright is, by training and experience, a specialist in research methodologies and has applied a wide range of sampling and data collection techniques, survey methods, and evaluation designs in diverse subject areas. Her main areas of study include behavioral health with a deep focus on opioid addiction and the comparative effectiveness of emerging pharmaceutical treatments undertaken for CDC, PCORI, NIDA, SAMHSA, and pharmaceutical companies.
Ms. Albright led SAMHSA’s Drug Abuse Warning Network analyses from 2005 to 2013. She was Survey Director for the groundbreaking RDD study conducted by California on tobacco use among LGBT persons. Ms Albright authored CDC’s series of web-based guides to conducting CDC’s Adult Tobacco Survey program among the Alaskan Native, American Indian, and Hispanic-Latino populations. Her work in tobacco was grounded in her direction of NCI’s COMMIT Cohort Tracking Surveys, our nation’s earliest efforts at understanding smoking habits in America. Further efforts in public health included her service as Deputy Manager for HUD’s nation wide study of lead-based paint in housing leading to national legislation to protect children, direction of Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance data collection systems, market research for the Office of Veterans Affairs, and membership surveys for the AMA and IEEE.
Larry Campbell
Larry Campbell, MS, Statistics, is a Principal and Research Statistician at CamBright Research LLC in the Research Triangle, North Carolina, USA, a specialty survey design, sampling, and analysis company. Mr. Campbell is responsible for the sampling designs and analysis of efficient, effective, and creative, survey-based data collection programs that address the critical behavioral health challenges of our times.
Larry has two decades of experience providing sampling and data analysis support for a broad array of survey-related studies. His most recent focus has been providing survey design and field operations for SAMHSA’s Synar program, whose focus is on reducing youth retail access to tobacco products. He has led the effort for the review of annual state Synar reporting, including assisting the states with their sampling redesign efforts. In North Carolina, he has recently led the successful redesign of the State Synar study, resulting in greater sampling design efficiency and saving state resources. Other work in North Carolina has helped the state focus its policy efforts on various hotspots around the state, along with determining factors associated with retail sales of tobacco to youth.
Larry has provided key frame and sampling support for SAMHSA’s Drug Abuse Warning Network, a project focused on understanding drug abuse in the hospital emergency room setting. He used the American Hospital Association listing of hospitals as a frame and provided updates and samples of new hospital for the project.
CamBright’s financial record sampling unit is headed by Larry Campbell. Larry has the unique qualifications of being both a card-carrying sampling statistician and, in a prior career, a Certified Public Accountant. His advanced training gives him expertise in sampling techniques and calculation methods, as well as an accountant’s understanding of tax preparation. Larry has been a leader in his statistical career in in developing strategies and approaches for improving the quality of statistical sampling and analysis in survey research.
Mr. Campbell received his MS degree in Statistics from North Carolina State University, and his BA in accounting from California State University at Fullerton. Mr. Campbell is a Lean Six Sigma Certified Green Belt, and has owned his own public accounting firm in Southern California.
Barbara Davis
Barbara Davis, BA, Sociology, is a Principal and Field Survey Specialist at Rising Star Pros, LLC in Oceanview, California, USA, a firm specializing in interviewer recruitment and management for complex in-person research studies. Ms. Davis oversees recruiting, screening, interviewing and managing field staff. She handles employee relations, payroll, benefits, and training. Ms. Davis has over 20 years of experience building field teams and conducting field interviews for a broad array of studies. Her projects involve field design and field operations for studies on sensitive topics such as HIV-AIDS. She has served as the field manager of a large, longitudinal in-home study of substance abusers. She has designed and performed the extensive training for 40+ person field interviewer teams and managed their performance. What makes Ms. Davis unique is her ability to build strong and lasting relationships with co-workers, and more importantly, with study participants. Ms. Davis’s “signature approach” to in-person data collection has resulted in a high respondent retention rate in each of the studies that she managed, helping her clients exceed their subject retention goals. Ms. Davis strongly believes in the power of creating and maintaining positive employee and respondent experiences; they set the foundation for everything she does, both professionally and personally. Ms. Davis received her BA degree in Sociology from Syracuse University.
